This book is a bit of a balm to a world-weary soul. As you can tell by the publication date, it is very much embedded in the present time. However, it doesn't delve too much into the many crises that exist in this moment in time. It acknowledges they exist, and then careful, determinedly, encourages the reader to find ways to connect, or reconnect with elements of wonder, joy, and appreciation. It is not a book that encourages denial of the place we find ourselves in, as a society, as a species, but it does ask us to consider if the way out of the mess that we are in is to constantly dwell in the mess, or if it might be to find ways to still nurture wonder, care, and grace.
