This book is a gentle and compassionate guide for ways to get back on top of the tasks of daily living when life or your mental health has gotten in the way. Davis is a licensed counsellor, and she also writes from a lived experience perspective as someone who struggled with her mental health and the juggling act of having a toddler and a new baby in March of 2020. So she has been there, and she offers kindness, compassion, and a neurodiversity-affirming lens to her thoughtful guide.

At the core of this book is a gentle encouragement to try and reframe household chores as "care tasks", and to try and devest them from the weight of energy, blame, and obligation that they so often carry. This book encourages you to ask "How can I show care for my future self by doing this care task today?" and to step away from any "shoulds". The things you do to show care for your future self are wonderful, and when you don't get a chance to, you can acknowledge that your past self was doing everything possible with the resources available.

The book is organized and written with overwhelm and different processing styles in mind; the typeface is accessible and she provides a guide about sections to skip and sections to read depending on where you are at with your mental health and energy levels.
